Gothic Cakes

(not me)
To continue with the party theme from last post, I am going to show you a few cool cakes I found recently.

I am not expecting anyone to put TOO much effort into cakes like these people have but they give great ideas.

<- This one I liked because it is probably the most simple yet. A few different shapes are easy to make with marzipan. And the colours are great!

This one is also kind of simple and I like the pattern. I would make it without the girl though the style is great. Also here you can choose whatever colours to use for the patches. ->

<- I liked the simpleness in this one also. Black white and red are probably the coolest colours to use. Using red as blood makes it even better! This is definitely my favourite.

I know I already showed this one already but I would like to show you again cause it is just so cute and creative. The roses may be a bit hard to make but well worth the effort!->

Gothic Birthday Party! Any other ideas welcome!

Hey guys!
Just wanted to let you know that this year I have decided to have a goth themed birthday! I haven't had one yet since I only became dedicated to the goth ways last year. So today I am going to tell you my plans and hopefully you can get some ideas of your own! Don't judge if I sound a little childish :3

I am going to try and have a Black and White colour scheme and make it as dark as possible.

Decorations
Using cheesecloth I am going to cover my party room in 'cobwebs'. This material is really effective and makes the room look cool if positioned right. Any pieces of furniture that are NOT black will be covered in black sheets. If I decide to, I could even drape the walls in black sheets also. And if I did that I would put little fairy lights around on the walls.

Food
It might be predictable but obviously I am going to have a Gothic themed cake. I am quite skilled in cake making/decorating. With many choices to choose from, and lots of time to decide, I don't have to set it in stone right now. I can choose from a graveyard, an abstract piece or my favourite: I found one that was a heart - half black, half red - that bore thorns/roses around it and had stitches. I may as well put a photo up of it. -->

That is all for now. I ENCOURAGE suggestions as I need more to host the perfect party!

That's all for now
Thank you my DarkOnes

Just a Few Tips for Goths

1. MONEY
Be prepared to spend alot of $ when shopping for your gothic needs! These amazing designs and styles do not come cheap. I suggest, if you are still in school like me, to get a part-time or casual job to start saving money for your clothing needs.

2. BE HAPPY
There is no point being all gothic and to not enjoy yourself whilst doing so. Let us create a new era where goths are NOT sad and depressed but ones who like who they are and show it to the world. We are different. Why not show others that we are proud to be.

3. BE YOURSELF
Don't force or overdo the gothic style. Do what feels right for you. You don't have to be 100% goth 24/7. I cannot stress this enough. I don't like to see people trying so hard that they aren't enjoying themselves. So be the best goth/person you can be. In your own way :)

Dark sisters and brothers, be proud of who you are :) don't let anyone make you think otherwise.

Gothic Clothing Stores

It can be quite hard to find clothing stores which sell gothic items. There is only one that I can actually physically go to. And even that doesn't have too many things. So it's great when you have the Internet to find some online ones. I don't know what it is like in other countries store-wise but here are a few suggested sites I use:
(Be prepared to spend A LOT of money though)

Mame Clothing This shop doesn't have a huge range but the things they have already I quite adore. The corsets sold there are boned so they can cost up to $500. Some of the dresses a quite plain but the ones that stand out are an average price.
Beserk Clothing There are many different brands in this site. Though I would call it maybe more punk than goth, they frequently sell perfect gothic gowns or accessories. Hell Bunny would have to be my favourite brand.  And remember you can always be goth with a little colour. They also have great quality hair dyes so don't be afraid to pick out a crazy colour.
Goth Store This store carries fashion for both women AND men. Since it is a UK site, you will have to convert their money to your currency. But everything here is SUPER CHEAP! Even though they don't have a huge range, they have great quality & price.
Goth Store-Pirate Merch The site is a bit untidy and is more about accessories rather than clothing. The clothing they currently have is for both guys and girls though not a big range. Definitely not my favourite.
The Black Angel I recently found this one and loved it! Again, for guys and girls. Their clothing is a bit cheaper than normal price but the style and quality is great! And it is also UK so converting is needed. It ships almost anywhere in the world which made me really happy.

So that is only a few of the many gothic shops out there. Hopefully you can find one to suit you best!

Corsets: The greatest thing since apparently 2000 BC

Corsets. What more can you say? Weather it is a fashion statement, for some sexy time ;), or you want to get your body in that abstract hourglass shape, corsets are a great piece for any person. They come in different forms and styles so here is a few:

WAIST CORSET
These are similar to underbust corsets but about half the size. Me, I don't like them much because they don't hold my belly as much and they aren't large enough to make a fashion statement. They aren't the most popular and are usually only used for creating the shape for your desired body.

UNDERBUST
<-- These are under your breasts and are my personal favourite. I like the vest types and make you look more classy. Wearing a plain or lacy top underneath is perfect, preferably black or white...unless you are wearing a black or white corset therefore I suggest purple or black or blue. So if you want to show off your chest but keep your belly looking great I suggest this.

OVERBUST
These corsets go over the top of your breasts. You don't necessarily have to wear anything underneath when going out.

If you want to shape your body in an hourglass shape, you will have to buy a more expensive one that is steel boned. Simply ask the people who sell them or check the tag. Expectantly you should know they aren't a common fashion piece so you will have to look is special goth stores.

That's all for now!

How to have perfect hair: for goths

Hey guys!
So you want the perfect gothic look? It can't be complete without your hair being a mess and all girly girl. That won't do! Here you go...

BASE
The base colour doesn't always have to be black even though that is the most common and my preference. You can use blonde like this chick which I really think is cool! -->
Red is also a good base but may not go with all your outfits.

HIGHLIGHTS/STREAKS
I suggest you should, if you want, go all the way with adding colour onto the base! Goth is about showing who you are and not caring about what anyone thinks of you. So show off those colours and show them off proudly!
Any colour will do; try to match your personality if you can :3
And going back to the picture on the right; I love how she did her streaks sideways rather than normal. Not a must-have obviously but something you might like to try.
BTW I love what this girl below has done!

FLAUNTING IT
So really any hair cut suits the goth look. Again, allow it to reflect your personality. If you are bubbly and fun: piggy tails, if you like to hide: fringe and bangs. Experiment and just take chances. I think dreadlocks look awesome and just make your hair as BIG and awesome as possible!

So that is all for now Dark daughters and sons!!!
Goodbye for now

Gothic Eyes

Simple, but effective
What I absolutely adore is how you can so easily change your eye colour. Now these aren't for everyone, but if you really want eyes that stand out you can use eye contacts to really make your eyes pop!
So how to choose colours...

Black: I believe they make your eyes bigger and for people who want to look cute or kawaii, it works well. They also compliment extreme Gothic outfits but don't stand out as much.

Blue: Using a bright blue colour can make your eyes look cute and really stands out heaps with a black outfit. It would have to be my favourite choice.

Patterns: If you are preparing for a special occasion, it's time to be creative! This spider web pattern is a great example. You can be a bit more evil looking by using alien/monster eyes or full black eyes.

Thanks for reading!

Make-Up!

This is one for the girls!
So obviously, one of the things that really stand out for goths after their bold sense of clothing is their makeup. Starting from the top:
Eyebrows: Have them drawn with dark brow liner. It's not a must have and personally, having dark hair already, I don't bother with it so it isn't necessary to use this if you want the ultimate goth look but contribute well when applied graciously.
Eyes: I think this is the place to be as creative as possible. There are endless designs and looks you can create just on your eyes alone. The colour palette should always contrast well with your desired outfit. I suggest blacks, blues or reds. Again, with the base colour as black or a dark grey, it is good to get a thick layer of eye-liner all around your eyes to really bring them out.
Here I admired the colours and design this person used and can be done quite simply.                                                                                      -->

However, if you wanted to be a bit more bold and stand out you could use one of the designs underneath or perhaps create your own.

Lips: Lip liner is quite popular and when applied correctly, defines your lips perfectly but again, is not necessary. Now for the lipstick let me be clear. Black lips don't suit everyone. Sometimes all you need is a dark red or, if game enough, purples or blues.

Hope this helps my readers!

Vampire Academy Book

This is a great book and I highly recommend reading it! It is the first of the series as well as the base of a spin-off series called bloodlines.

Vampire Academy starts with Rose Hathaway and Lissa Dragomir and after their two year high school runaway, they are finally caught by the school's guardians and taken back. They are put back in school and part of Rose's 'punishment' is to train with guardian Dimitri Belikov to get her grades back up.

How it works in this world: Moroi are good vampires. Strigoi are evil vampires. Dhampir's are half vampires, made by a Moroi and a dhampir. Strigoi are either moroi who willingly turned OR moroi or dhampir's turned unwillingly. These live in the human world but humans don't know about them. They are regularly used to 'feed' moroi but will not be killed by one.

So throughout the novel someone is pulling extreme...pranks(worse than pranks) on them and they are trying to get on with their lives as normal vampires. All the while, Lisa is attempting to control her ability like no other vampire has ever seen. Lisa's life is in grave danger but will Rose, should the time come, be able to save her from a dreadful fate?

It is well written and the relationships are skilfully established! I hope my blog readers will at take a second look when seeing this novel in bookstores.

Gingerdead Men-Cookie Cutter

These are pretty awesome in my opinion. It is a cookie cutter and ALSO able to imprint a skeleton shape into the dough. They cost about $6.95 in most stores and I highly recommend for Halloween or scary parties.

Difference Between Goths and Emos

What really gets me angry is when people tell me there is no difference between goths and emos. I have nothing against emos, though I don't like it when people refer to me as an emo. I think emos, as the name says as much, are emotionally affected and are frequently stereotyped of slashing their wrists to rid their pain. So from experience of friends, and family, I think this is mostly true. Goths, though they are continually mistaken as emos,  don't have too much in common aside from wearing a lot of black. They are associated with horror and dark spirits and frankly some people are scared to death of them. Also I found this picture online the other day and thought it relates well:

Hello Fellow Goths!

It is my first time to create a serious blog so here it goes. I hope you like it and I will try to post as often as possible. Any helpful advice or tips are welcome :) thank you!
